There are rumors that NASCAR may cancel its mid-June races in Mexico due to the current political situation.

LThe Xfinity Series is set to race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Saturday, June 14, followed by the Cup Series on Sunday, June 15.

The Xfinity Series last competed at this track in 2008, while the Cup Series has never raced there.

The most recent Cup Series event outside the U.S. took place in Japan at Twin Ring Motegi in 1998, and the last international points race occurred at Canada’s Exhibition Stadium in 1958.

Despite ongoing speculation, NASCAR recently held a promotional event attended by drivers Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, and Daniel Suárez, the only Mexican driver in the Cup Series. Additionally, tickets for the event are already on sale.

If the Mexico race is canceled, the Daytona International Speedway road course is the leading candidate for replacement.

This 12-turn, 3.56-mile (5.729-kilometer) circuit was added to the 2020 schedule after other tracks lost races due to pandemic restrictions.

It remained on the calendar in 2021 for the preseason Clash and a points race, as Auto Club Speedway was still unavailable.

There is no confirmation that the Mexico race will be canceled, but the situation is being closely watched.

NASCAR has backup plans for all 36 scheduled races, so removing the 2.417-mile (3.89-kilometer) Mexico City track would not shorten the regular season from 26 to 25 races.

The track was added to the 2025 schedule by eliminating one of Richmond Raceway’s two annual race weekends, ending a streak that had lasted since 1959.
