MBM Motorsports, now operating under the moniker Garage 66 for their NASCAR Cup Series endeavors, is poised to make a significant return to the track after facing setbacks in their initial attempts this season. The team is set to field the No. 66 Ford in the upcoming Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway, with veteran driver Casey Mears making a notable comeback to the series.

Earlier this year, Garage 66 aimed to compete in the preseason Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium with Garrett Smithley behind the wheel. Unfortunately, Smithley did not qualify for the main event. The team’s challenges continued at the Daytona 500, where initial plans to have Mike Wallace drive were thwarted when NASCAR did not approve him to race due to his prolonged absence from major professional motorsports. Chandler Smith stepped in but was unable to secure a spot in the race.

The upcoming event at Martinsville marks a pivotal moment for Garage 66. Casey Mears, who last competed in the Cup Series in 2019, is set to drive the No. 66 Ford. Mears, a seasoned driver with a career spanning from 2003 to 2016, boasts a victory at the 2007 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. His return is anticipated to bring experience and renewed vigor to the team.

The Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway is scheduled for Sunday, March 30, with live coverage on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET. As the race approaches, anticipation builds to see if Garage 66 and Casey Mears can translate their efforts into a successful performance on the track.
