The NASCAR Cup Series made its lone 2025 stop at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, following a surprising qualifying session on Saturday.
Carson Hocevar of Spire Motorsports earned his first-ever Cup Series pole position, narrowly beating Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron by just 0.014 seconds. Hocevar’s lap time of 28.175 seconds (191.659 mph) was the second-fastest in the Next Gen era. Byron’s 191.564 mph lap wasn’t quite enough to keep Hocevar, 22, from becoming the youngest pole winner at Texas for the Wurth 400 presented by Liqui Moly.
Stage 1 Results: Austin Cindric claimed the Stage 1 win, followed by Tyler Reddick and Josh Berry. Kyle Larson and Chris Buescher rounded out the top five. Hocevar placed sixth, just ahead of Byron in seventh.
Stage 2 Results: Kyle Larson took the Stage 2 victory, with Reddick again finishing second. Alex Bowman came in third, with Ryan Preece and Bubba Wallace rounding out the top five. Hocevar repeated his sixth-place finish in the stage.
Final Race Results: Joey Logano took the overall win, ahead of Ross Chastain and Ryan Blaney. Kyle Larson finished fourth, with Erik Jones completing the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Austin Dillon, John Hunter Nemechek, Christopher Bell, and Daniel Suarez.
Other notable results included William Byron finishing 13th, Carson Hocevar in 24th after starting from pole, and Denny Hamlin in last place (38th). Despite strong stage performances, several drivers, including Cindric, Berry, and Wallace, fell down the order by the end of the race.
