NASCAR Team Shuts Down Operations Midseason in Shocking Move

Kaz Grala brought the No. 5 Our Motorsports car home in 31st place on Saturday at Dover Motor Speedway — a finish that marked the end of the road for the team.

In a surprising pre-race announcement, Our Motorsports revealed it would be shutting down operations after the Dover event. “Our Motorsports will conclude its season on Saturday in Dover, Del., with Kaz Grala driving the No. 5 Ferguson Chevrolet,” the team said in a statement. “We will cease NASCAR operations going forward. Thank you to NASCAR, Chevrolet, the fans, our employees, and all the drivers who have been part of this journey over the past six years.”

Team owner Chris Our had led the organization through a competitive run, even contending for a playoff spot in the previous season. However, 2025 brought challenges. Kris Wright, who drove the car for most of the year before stepping aside earlier this week, struggled with consistency, averaging a finish of 27.4. Yahoo Sports reported that Wright was involved in near-weekly on-track incidents, drawing criticism from fellow drivers and industry insiders.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to race with Our Motorsports and compete in the Xfinity Series this season,” said Wright. “Although I’m stepping away from the No. 5 car, I’m looking forward to what’s next and appreciate everything I’ve learned in this series.”

The No. 5 car ranked 36th in earnings and was no longer in contention for bonus pool payouts. It also failed to qualify for the recent Chicago race, signaling a downward trend that ultimately led to the team’s decision to call it quits.
