Daniel Suárez, the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race, has built a career by defying expectations. He has taken charge of his journey, proving he belongs in a sport where few share his background

Before rising to NASCAR fame, Suárez was a young boy from Monterrey, Mexico, who dreamed of racing. He started with go-karts using recycled tires, overcoming the financial challenges that come with the sport.

Suárez exceeded all expectations, advancing through the ranks, mastering English, and ultimately becoming the first Mexican-born driver to win a national NASCAR title before reaching the elite Cup Series.

When Suárez entered NASCAR, the majority of people doubted a Mexican driver could compete at the highest level. Instead of discouraging him, their skepticism motivated him to prove it was possible and make diversity in the sport more common.

Through his initiative, Daniel’s Amigos, Suárez is increasing Latino representation in NASCAR, helping fans feel included and inspired to be part of the sport.

Fan Rosemary Cerda, a member of Daniel’s Amigos, expressed her admiration for Suárez, noting that he has significantly increased Latino presence in NASCAR, which was previously limited.

Another fan, Shirley Kirouac, shared that she has been a supporter since first seeing Suárez on television, immediately recognizing him as her favorite driver.
