Winners and Losers from the Darlington NASCAR Cup Race (Won by Denny Hamlin)

Winners:

  • Denny Hamlin – Thanks to a fast final pit stop by his crew, Hamlin grabbed the lead before the overtime restart and didn’t look back, securing his second straight win. “When they dropped the jack on the right, I knew this one was going to be a heater,” Hamlin said. With back-to-back victories, he’s climbed from eighth to second in the standings.
  • Joe Gibbs Racing – After ending last season without a win in the final 18 races, JGR has come out strong this year, collecting five wins in the first eight races.
  • William Byron – Dominated early, leading 243 laps, and finished second. It was his third runner-up result in the first eight races of the season.
  • Christopher Bell – Continued his strong run with a third-place finish. That makes five top-three finishes in the first eight races, including three wins, a second, and now a third.
  • Kyle Busch – With a 10th-place finish, Busch broke a streak of three poor showings (17th or worse) and moved into the final playoff spot.
  • Ryan Blaney – Snapped a slump of five races outside the top 10 by finishing fifth.

Losers:

  • Willidam Byron – Despite leading 243 of 297 laps, he came up short of the win.
  • Ryan Blaney – Lost the lead during the final pit stop, which cost him a real shot at victory.
