The sixth race of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season is set to take place at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Despite ongoing brush fires in the surrounding area, city officials confirmed on Wednesday that the event schedule remains unchanged.

In a statement released Wednesday evening, the City of Homestead assured that NASCAR Cup Series events at the track will proceed as planned. However, the report also cautions individuals with respiratory conditions to limit outdoor exposure and mentions that the fires have caused brief power outages for local residents.

Homestead-Miami Speedway previously hosted NASCAR’s championship finale every year from 2003 to 2019, but the venue’s role in the schedule has shifted multiple times in recent years.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the race was rescheduled to June 2020 before moving to the third race of the 2021 season. From 2022 to 2024, it returned as a crucial playoff race in the penultimate round, where a victory could secure a driver’s place in the Championship 4.

For 2025, the event is scheduled much earlier in the season, taking place in March for the first time. This makes it the second-earliest appearance of the race on the NASCAR Cup schedule. Additionally, the weekend will feature all three major NASCAR series—Cup, Xfinity, and Truck—competing in Miami-Dade County.
