Joey Logano bounced back from a recent disqualification by winning the Wurth 400 at Texas, marking his first win and top-five finish of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. Starting 27th, Logano made a late-race move on Michael McDowell and held off Ross Chastain in overtime to claim his 37th career victory. The win came just a week after being disqualified from the Talladega race due to a missing spoiler bracket nut.

Logano’s win elevated him to ninth in the Cup Series standings. The updated top 10 sees William Byron still leading with 421 points, followed closely by teammate Kyle Larson (408), who gained ground with a Stage 2 win and a fourth-place finish. Denny Hamlin dropped to a tie for third with Chase Elliott after an engine failure ended his race early. Tyler Reddick moved ahead of Christopher Bell for fifth, and Ryan Blaney passed Bubba Wallace for seventh. Alex Bowman fell to 10th.

Just outside the top 10 are Chastain (11th), Austin Cindric (14th), Kyle Busch (16th), and Josh Berry (24th), with Brad Keselowski down in 32nd. Though Busch is 16th overall in points, Berry’s win earlier in the season gives him an edge in playoff eligibility. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. currently holds the 16th and final playoff spot by a 12-point margin.

So far, seven drivers have secured wins this season—Byron, Bell, Berry, Larson, Hamlin, Cindric, and Logano. With 16 playoff spots available, winning a race all but guarantees a berth, but regular-season points still matter significantly. The driver finishing first in regular-season standings earns 15 bonus playoff points, with descending rewards for the rest of the top 10.
