NASCAR has issued significant L1-level penalties to two Xfinity Series teams—the No. 87 Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet and the No. 99 Viking Motorsports Chevrolet—following pre-race inspections at Talladega Superspeedway. Both teams were found to have rear bumper cover violations, specifically breaching Sections 14.4.A and 14.4.11.C&D of the NASCAR Rule Book.

As a result, each team has been fined $25,000 and docked 20 driver and owner points, along with a loss of 5 playoff points. These penalties have affected Austin Green’s standing, dropping him to 48th place in the driver rankings, while Matt DiBenedetto remains in 24th despite the outcome at Talladega.

The rulebook mandates that all body components must be used exactly as provided by the manufacturer. Sections 14.4.11.C&D further specify that teams must use the approved Five Star part (#15001-45212) for the rear bumper cover Superspeedway extension, which must meet NASCAR’s aerodynamic and design standards for high-speed drafting conditions.
