It sounds like MBM Motorsports’ struggles come down to a combination of financial limitations, a lack of charter status, and decisions made by the RTA that hurt non-chartered teams. Losing that 1% of the total purse for open teams significantly cut into their ability to compete, making it difficult to sustain a full-time Cup Series effort.

The Timmy Hill/iRacing situation in 2021 was a symptom of a larger issue—smaller teams not being prioritized in NASCAR’s ecosystem. That, combined with the rising cost of charters, means MBM is fighting an uphill battle just to stay on the grid.

Do you think NASCAR should step in and make it easier for small teams to compete, or is this just the natural progression of the sport?
