The newest member of the Earnhardt family to pursue racing took a significant step in his NASCAR development on Saturday night, as Wyatt Miller made his debut in both pavement racing and full-bodied stock cars in a Limited Late Model event at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Miller, who is 13 years old, is the son of Kelley Earnhardt-Miller and LW Miller, making him Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s nephew and the grandson of the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Late Model Stock Cars represent the highest level of pavement short track racing in the Mid-Atlantic, while the Limited Late Model division serves as a lower-powered version aimed at developing young drivers for the next level.
Miller ran within the top five throughout the race, taking advantage of incidents ahead of him. With less than five laps remaining, he was in third place and putting pressure on the leaders, coming close to securing a victory.
Ultimately, William Aldred managed to hold his position and win the race. Reflecting on the final laps, Miller admitted he attempted to move Aldred out of the way but couldn’t quite make it work, congratulating the winner on his performance.
